Swami Nityananda is the head of Shanti Mandir. He grew up in a Siddha Yoga family and in 1982 was installed as Baba Muktananda's co-successor. He left his Siddha Yoga role in 1985 and founded Shanti Mandir in 1987. In 1995 he became a Mahamandaleshwar of the Mahanirvani Akhara. Emphasis on chanting and Vedic studies. Shanti Mandir has an educational wing mostly concerned with imparting Vedic wisdom to the young and underprivileged and charitable wings for health care and the empowerment of Indian women.
